Direct mail and opting out (Global)

What to know about direct mail and opting out of communications

Capital on Tap sends various types of communications, including direct mail and emails, to both prospective and existing customers. These communications can be categorized as essential or non-essential, and you can manage your preferences for many of them. This article explains the different types of communications and how you can opt out of them.

How to opt out of communications

Essential vs. non-essential communications

Capital on Tap communications are divided into two main categories: essential and non-essential.

  • Essential communications: These are critical for managing your account. This includes things like monthly statements and important updates to your account, such as changes to interest rates. You cannot opt out of these communications.
  • Non-essential communications: These communications include marketing, promotions, surveys, and newsletters. You can choose to opt out of these at any time.

How to manage your communication preferences

You have a few different ways to manage your communication preferences.

  • For marketing letters:
  • If you're in the UK, you can also fill out a form on the Capital on Tap website to opt out of direct mail.
  • Once you fill out the form, it may take up to 10 days for this to take effect.
  • For emails:
  • The easiest way to opt out of non-essential email communications is to click the Unsubscribe button found in the email you received. This will unsubscribe you from that specific type of communication.
  • Alternatively, you can manage your preferences in your online account. In the customer portal, go to your account and then Notification settings.
  • If you are using the mobile app, tap the settings cog at the top of the screen and then select Notification Settings.
  • For pre-populated application data:
  • Some marketing letters may contain an access code to pre-populate your information on an application.
  • If you want this data to be removed, you can fill out a form on the Capital on Tap website.
  • The data will be removed within 45 days after the form is submitted.
