The application journey, step by step
Step 1: Check you are eligible
You can apply if:
- You are an active director or majority shareholder (25%+ ownership) of the business.
- Your business is a UK-registered limited company (Ltd) or limited liability partnership (LLP).
- You and your business are based in the UK.
- Your business has a turnover of at least £24,000 a year.
- You have no unsatisfied CCJs against you or your business in the last 12 months.
We cannot accept applications from charities, non-profit organisations, trusts, funds, or Royal Charters.
Step 2: Start your online application
- Head to our website and start the online application.
- Have your Companies House number to hand.
- You will enter basic personal and business details.
Step 3: We run credit searches
- A soft search on your personal credit file - this does not affect your credit score and is not visible to other lenders.
- A hard search on your business credit file.
- If your personal credit file is frozen, you will need to unfreeze it before we can proceed.
Step 4: Verify your identity (IDV)
- You will complete a quick check to confirm your identity.
- This needs a selfie and a photo of a valid passport or driving licence.
- It is done via a secure link in the app, portal, or email, usually in a few minutes.
- Identity verification is mandatory and cannot be skipped.
Step 5: Provide any extra information we ask for
Most applicants get an instant decision. Occasionally we email you within one business day to ask for a bit more, for example:
- Proof of address
- A business bank statement
- Confirmation of beneficial ownership
Providing this quickly helps us finish your review without delay.
Step 6: Get your decision
- Most decisions arrive in under two minutes.
- Some applications need a manual review, which can take a few business days.
- You do not need to reapply while a review is in progress.
Step 7: Sign your personal guarantee
- We ask for a personal guarantee from a director or major shareholder.
- This is a standard part of the application.
Step 8: Access your funds straight away
Once approved, you do not need to wait for your physical card. You can immediately create a virtual card in your portal for online purchases or within your digital wallet (e.g. Apple Pay).
Step 9: Receive and activate your card
- Your physical card arrives at your registered business address within 3-5 business days.
- When it arrives, log in to your portal and go to the Cards page.
- Activate it there, and you can start using it straight away.
