Receipt chasers
What are receipt chasers?
Receipt chasers are automated reminders sent to cardholders when a transaction is missing a receipt. Once enabled, the system tracks missing receipts and sends reminders at a frequency you choose.
Receipt chasers are available to all users but only the Main Account Holder (MAH), Admins, and Accounts can enable and manage them.
Push notifications must be enabled in your device settings.
How do I enable it?
To enable receipt chasers:
- Go to Account Details in the app or web portal;
- Select Notification Settings;
- Select Receipt Reminder;
- Toggle the feature on.
Receipt chasers only track transactions from the date the feature is enabled. Receipts uploaded before that date will not be chased.
How do receipt chasers work?
Once enabled, the system tracks and chases missing receipts in 30-day cycles:
- Missing receipts are tracked throughout the 30-day period;
- On day 30, a summary report is sent covering all chasing activity for that cycle;
- A new 30-day cycle begins immediately after the previous one ends.
To restart the 30-day window at any time, toggle the feature off and then on again.
Can I customise reminders?
Yes, you can personalise the reminders with the following conditions:
- Minimum threshold: Set the minimum transaction value that triggers a reminder. The minimum is £0.01 / $0.01. Only transactions above this value will be chased.
- Frequency: Choose daily, weekly, or bi-weekly reminders.
- Day of week: Weekly and bi-weekly reminders are sent on Mondays. Transactions added mid-week will be chased on the following Monday.
What does the receipt summary report include?
The summary report shows the status of every transaction tracked during the 30-day cycle:
- Receipts received: Successfully uploaded and matched.
- Receipts missing: Currently being chased.
- Receipts marked as lost: Transactions where a receipt is unavailable.
I can't find a receipt. What should I do?
You can mark it as lost on the individual transaction page by following these steps:
- Open the transaction in the app or web portal;
- Scroll to the bottom of the transaction details page;
- Select Mark as lost and provide a reason.
Marking a receipt as lost immediately stops all automated reminders for that transaction. The transaction will still appear in the summary report.
If the receipt is later found, upload it to the transaction. This removes the lost status and stops any further reminders automatically.
Why am I not receiving receipt reminders?
If receipt chasers are enabled but reminders are not arriving, check the following:
- Confirm the Receipt Reminder toggle is enabled under Notification Settings;
- Confirm the transaction value is above the minimum threshold you have set;
- Weekly and bi-weekly reminders are sent on Mondays;
- Ensure push notifications for Capital on Tap are enabled in your device settings;
- Ensure you are using the latest version of the Capital on Tap app;
- Chasers only apply to transactions added after the feature was enabled.
Can I change the reminder day?
Not currently. The ability to choose a different day will be available in a future update.
