Managing Card Spend Limits (UK)
As a Main Account Holder, you have the option to set spending limits for your cards and those of your cardholders. These limits can be adjusted at any time and will refresh at the start of each billing period.
How to set spend limits
You can set various types of spend limits on your cards and your cardholders' cards.
- Billing Period Spend Limit: This limit controls the total amount that can be spent within a single billing period.
- Single Transaction Spend Limit: This limit restricts the value of a single purchase. Transactions that exceed this limit will be declined.
- ATM Block: You can choose to allow or block ATM withdrawals for your cardholders.
Important: You can set these controls in the app or portal by navigating to the Cards tab, selecting a card, and clicking 'add spend controls'.
Card spend restrictions
Certain types of merchants and countries are restricted due to legal and regulatory obligations.
- Restricted merchants: Certain merchant types are restricted because they are not considered business-related spending. These include dating services, gambling, and government lotteries.
- Restricted countries: Due to national and international law, you cannot use your card in certain countries. You can use your card in other countries with no foreign exchange fees, and we use Visa's exchange rate.
- ATM and daily limits: You are limited to a maximum of 2 ATM withdrawals within a 24-hour period, with a maximum withdrawal of £400. The card will only be accepted at a Visa ATM.
- Contactless limits: The contactless transaction limit is £100, with a cumulative limit of £300 before a chip and PIN is requested.
